Student Spotlight: Mary (Bradley) Ruggeri Selected for PAEA Board of Directors

Ruggeri, class of 2020, has been selected for the PAEA Board of Directors.

Mary (Bradley) Ruggeri, class of 2020, a student in the Yale School of Medicine Physician Assistant (PA) Online Program, has been selected as the student member at-large on the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) Board of Directors, the only student position on the board of this national organization.

For the past year and a half, Ruggeri has served as the student member of the PAEA Future Educator Development Steering Committee (FEDSC). In this position, she has helped facilitate the committee’s mission to “serve as the voice of PA students and early career PAs and work to bridge resources to develop diverse and inclusive clinician-to-preceptor and educator pipelines.”

Since joining the FEDSC, one of Ruggeri’s key accomplishments has been helping to facilitate the Future Educator Fellowship, a one-year fellowship for PA students nationwide who are interested in a future career in PA education. Ruggeri stated, “Working with the FEDSC and the student fellows has been such an enjoyable experience. The amount of energy and enthusiasm for PA education within this group has been truly inspiring!” 

Ruggeri’s positive experience and strong interest in PA education prompted her to apply for the position on the board. A subcommittee of the PAEA Board selected her from a number of qualified candidates, which the full Board subsequently approved.  Ruggeri begins her two-year term in January 2020. “I am thrilled at the opportunity to serve on the PAEA Board of Directors and to work closely with leaders in PA education,” said Ruggeri, “and I am honored to represent PA students nationwide through this role.”
