Graduation/Degree Requirements
The criteria for promotion from one term to another are listed below. Both the student’s academic advisor and the Progress Committee monitor student progress.
Didactic Phase, Satisfactory Progression
- Attendance: must attend all clinical skills sessions/immersions and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) sessions
- Satisfactory performance of skills during the immersion
- Successful completion with passing grade in all courses
- Successful completion of the Didactic Year Summative Exam
- Adherence to PA Code of Ethics, personal conduct policies, and YSM Human Relations Code of Conduct
- Completion of training in HIPAA, bloodborne pathogens, and Title IX
- Compliance with YSM PA Online vaccination policy
- Successful completion of Virtual Interprofessional Education (VIPE)
Clinical Phase, Satisfactory Progression
- Successful completion of 15 mandatory and elective clinical rotations
- Grade of 72 percent or higher on the capstone project
- Completion of Medications for Addition Treatment (MAT) Waiver training
- Adherence to PA Code of Ethics, personal conduct policies, and YSM Human Relations Code of Conduct
- Attendance at all mandatory sessions/immersions
- Compliance with HIPAA and YSM vaccination policies
Yale PA Online Program, Satisfactory Completion
- Successful completion of both the didactic and clinical phases of the program
- Successful completion of summative exams
- Students are expected to complete all program requirements within 42 months of first matriculation.

This tool allows students to monitor their academic progress through the program and view outstanding requirements. Students can access their degree audit through the Yale Hub.
Items to Complete Before You Graduate
- Approve your diploma name in the Yale Hub.
- Update your mailing address in the Yale Hub(diploma and final transcripts will be sent via mail).
- Clear all holds listed in the Yale Hub.
- Complete Financial Aid exit counseling.
- Send employment or verification requests to Yale PA Online.
- Review commencement information.
- Yale University’s diplomas are issued in Latin. Contact the University Registrar if you’d like a diploma translation.
Additional Requirements
- Proof of Residency: All students are required to provide proof of residency in the form of a valid, current government-issued photo ID (state ID or driver’s license) on an annual basis.
- Health Insurance: All students are required to provide proof of health insurance on an annual basis.
- Immunizations:
- All students are required to upload their Health Sciences Student Vaccination Record via the Medicat system and submit the Health Form and Physical Exam to Yale Health.
- Yearly immunization requirements include renewals for your physical, PPD, and flu shot.
- CEED and clinical rotation sites may require confirmation or additional immunizations.
- Certifications:
- Annual HIPAA Requirement: All students must complete Yale University HIPAA requirements on an annual basis via the Training and Certification. To access the Training Management System (TMS) website, you must be connected to VPN and log in with your NetID credentials. Once there, select the “My Training Information” link on the left side of the page. You will be asked to log in to CAS with your NetID and password. There should be a red “X” next to the “Annual HIPAA Security Attestation and HIPAA Refresher” course. On the right-hand side of the course listing, click the button “Click here for training” to begin the course. In addition to the HIPAA Attestation, you will also need to complete the Foundational HIPAA Privacy and Security Training. This is a one-time training, whereas the HIPAA Attestation will need to be completed annually.
- Health Care OSHA: This training is provided at no cost to students, and includes information on bloodborne pathogens, emergency action, and other workplace hazards. Training takes a minimum of two days to complete and is good for a lifetime.
- PA School Prep: This pre-matriculation assessment provides a review for incoming PA students. This is provided free of charge to students.
- BLS: Prior to the start of Orientation, you are required to provide a photocopy of a current/active BLS certification that will remain current until the end of the didactic year. Please note that your BLS must be provided by the American Heart Association. All students will complete BLS/ACLS during the program at no additional expense.

- Faculty Advisor: Each student is assigned an academic advisor. Assignments are made prior to the start of classes.
- Student Success Advisor: Students are assigned a designated, nontechnical Student Success Advisor to assist in onboarding and preparation to begin classes, and as a resource throughout the entire program.
- Clinical Placement Specialist: Students will work with Clinical Placement Specialists who will coordinate their placements at Yale-approved sites.
- EXXAT: Tool for managing clinical rotations.

- Student Accessibility Services
- Uwill: This independent program enables students to receive real-time counseling online from a network of licensed mental health professionals. After setting up a profile, students are almost immediately connected to a licensed mental health counselor based on their unique needs and preferences. Students can engage in up to six video or phone sessions a year at no cost.
- SHARE: SHARE is available to members of the Yale community who are dealing with sexual misconduct of any kind. SHARE responders are Yale University mental health professionals. All calls to SHARE are confidential and can be anonymous if you wish. Additional information is located in Unit 4.5 of Student Orientation.
